"Celebrating 24 Years Serving Youth"
Ebony Horsewomen, Inc. (EHI), founded by Patricia E. Lawson-Kelly in 1984, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community-service organization, developed and directed by African-American female equestrians, whose mission is to encourage and empower inner city youth toward positive and successful lives through the use of horses.
We have successfully serviced over 2,800 youth over the past eight years in the Greater Hartford Community. Our dedication to Positive Youth Development affords us the opportunity to work with a large percentage of youth who stay in the program until high school graduation as they prepare for higher education or the work force.
Twenty-four years ago, EHI was founded upon the knowledge and belief in the healing power that horses give to youth. Based on this belief we have developed a unique array of programs that encourage and develop our youth participants into productive and positive citizens and future leaders. Our full service Equestrian Center, not only offers innovative and therapeutic programs to youth but it also adds a new dimension and vibrancy to the community.
